ICDL is the International Certification of Digital Literacy, recognised by employers across the globe as the benchmark in digital and IT user skills.
The ICDL syllabus is made up of 7 units, as follows:
Unit 1: Basic Concepts of Information Technology (IT)
Unit 2: Using the Computer and Managing Files
Unit 3: Word Processing (Microsoft Word)
Unit 4: Spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel)
Unit 5: Databases (Microsoft Access)
Unit 6: Presentations (Microsoft PowerPoint)
Unit 7: Information and Communication
All units are suitable for complete beginners to computing but are also suitable for people who wish to improve their current knowledge in order to take the ICDL tests.
ICDL Essentials Course
This course consists of Unit 1, Unit 2 and Unit 7 of the ICDL syllabus.
ICDL Core Course
This course contains training on all 7 units of the ICDL syllabus.
The courses are taught through an interactive learning programme.
30 hours: ICDL Essentials
70 hours: ICDL Core (7 units)
Act Training is approved by BCS (The British Computer Society) as an ICDL testing centre. We use a fully automated computerised testing system that gives instant feedback of results. Each test is 45 minutes long with a pass mark of 75%.
You can choose to enrol on either the 3 unit ICDL Essentials course or the full ICDL Core (7 units) course. For both courses, enrolment can be for the training only or for the training plus the relevant testing (at our Coventry testing centre only):
